Building Envelope Testing

Find the Problem Before It Gets Buried

A waterproofing defect hidden under pavers costs thousands to find and fix after construction. That same defect found during testing costs a fraction of that.

We test roofing, waterproofing, windows, and wall systems during and after construction to verify the work was done right. When the specs call for testing, we deliver documented proof that the installation meets the standard.

Testing Services

Electronic Leak Detection (ELD)

An electrical charge applied to the roof or waterproofing membrane, then scanned to detect holes, voids, and damage invisible to the naked eye. Critical before overburden goes on.

ASTM E1105 Negative Pressure Window Test

A spray rack on the exterior puts water on the window while negative pressure is pulled from the interior, simulating a thunderstorm. Determines if windows and surrounding construction are watertight.

AAMA 502.1 Nozzle Test

A calibrated spray nozzle testing at 1 foot per minute, 12 inches off the surface. Used for storefronts, curtain walls, and larger glazing systems.

Infrared Thermal Surveys

An infrared camera scans the building exterior to detect temperature differentials indicating trapped moisture or air leaks. Non-destructive. Jeff is a Certified Infrared Thermographer.

Additional Testing

Tramex capacitance testing, AAMA wand testing, low-voltage and high-voltage testing, pull tests, ASTM E1186 air leakage testing, and ASTM D4541 adhesion testing.

Timing Matters
